Taipei Veterans General Hospital's Zhongzheng Building was completed in October 1989. The baby room is located in Zone 83 on the 8th floor. There is a long corridor for visiting babies. The regular newborn ward is located on the 9th floor, while critically ill newborns are treated in the pediatric intensive care unit.
Due to advances in medical technology and the implementation of universal health insurance, the demand for medical care for premature and critically ill newborns has increased. Accordingly, our hospital set up neonatal intermediate and intensive care units behind the original baby room in March 1994 and May 1995, respectively.
As time has progressed and medical practices have advanced, our hospital has undertaken a comprehensive renovation to provide a better healthcare environment for hospitalized newborns, their families, and medical staff. The original facilities were dismantled to incorporate a patient-centered concept. After the completion of the renovation on May 4, 2021, the newly revamped space was officially opened.
The newly completed Neonatal Care Center consists of the Baby Room (BR), Intermediate Care Nursery (ICN), and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), providing comprehensive and attentive care for newborns.
