Botulinum Toxin

Botulinum Toxin

Botulinum Toxin is a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Botox is a purified form of the toxin that is used for a variety of medical and cosmetic purposes. Botox works by temporarily paralyzing muscles that are responsible for causing wrinkles and other signs of aging.

Features

When injected into the skin, Botox blocks the signals that normally cause muscles to contract, smoothing out wrinkles and creating a more youthful appearance.

Procedure:

Most people don't feel much pain during the procedure. Topical anesthetic may be applied to the skin before the treatment.

Your doctor would use a thin needle to inject tiny amounts of botulinum toxin into your skin or muscles. The number of shots and units of botulin toxin needed depends on individual circumstances.

After the procedure, do not rub or massage the treated areas for 24 hours. And don't lie down for 2 to 4 hours after getting the shots.
