Since 1980s, Taipei Veterans General Hospital (TVGH) has devoted to treatment and research of dementia. In 1989, Professor Liu, Hsiu-Chih completed dementia epidemic research in Taiwan. Spending three years tracking dementia prevalence in Jinmen in 1990s, localized dementia social image in Taiwan.

In 1996, TVGH established the first memory outpatient in Taiwan, founded “Dementia Research Center”, programming a massive Alzheimer biomarker research. Facing aging society and increasing dementia care needs, not only pursue precision medicine and research, but improve level of taking care profoundly. TVGH integrated neurology, geriatric, geriatric psychiatry and other medical profession, changed name as “Dementia Treatment and Research Center” (DTRC).
