Evaluation

Evaluation

Medical Students, Clerks and Interns:

Students’ performances are evaluated by their supervisor and the medical team based on their competencies in patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, system-based practice and interpersonal and communication skills.  Students can also evaluate their supervisor and give feedbacks on their learning experiences as well as self-evaluation.

Residents:

Residents are evaluated monthly by the supervisors of the particular specialties they are rotated to, who will assess their medical knowledge, competencies, attitude and accountability. Residents will also provide feedbacks to that particular rotation. Lists of core-learning objectives are given to the residents at the beginning of each rotation, and residents will self-evaluate their performances at the end of each rotation. For those whose results are below satisfactory, they will receive individualized counselling sessions from senior residents, attending physicians or the head of the department to discuss how their performances can be improved. Chief residents will also assess medical notes written by residents monthly. Each resident will also be supervised by an attending physician who will act as their supervisor throughout their residency training, and hold feedback sessions regularly.

Chief Resident and Fellowships:

In additions to the residents’ assessments, chief residents and fellows will also be assessed annually at the end of June each year.
