According to Taiwan’s Rare Diseases and Rare Genetic Diseases Care Service Act, when visiting patients or their families, professional personnel should inform them of the following based on the characteristics of each disease or genetic defect:

• The possible effects on growth and development
• The possible effects on reproduction and their children
• The possible effects on daily life, environment, and diet
• The possible effects on education and employment
• Other short-term, medium-term or long-term effects on physical, mental and social health aspects
