Clinical Elective Program for International Medical Students

Contents

Description

Overview

The Division of General Medicine belongs to the Department of Medicine. Our major task is to train the post graduate year (PGY) resident physicians and undergraduate year (UGY) students.

Features

Summary

We provide various kinds of teaching programs to enhance the ability of inpatient and outpatient care, as well as the consultation skills. The training physician in our section will have opportunities to contact with different kinds of patients with general, but a wide spectrum of internal medical diseases.

“Give Me Five” is an interactive method of clinical reasoning training developed by the Division of General Medicine at the Taipei Veterans General Hospital. The volunteer medical student portrays a real in-patient by portraying their major symptoms in front of the other attendees. The attendees then approach the student as if they are interviewing a real patient and take a medical history. This interactive method can improve attendee’s self-assessed perceptions, including history taking, physical examination, differential diagnoses and problem-solving capabilities.

In 2023, we are awarded the symbol of National Quality (SNQ) in Taiwan.
