研究專長與興趣

腦影像學、神經精神醫學、神經麻醉及疼痛醫學、臨床醫學、神經生物學、復健醫學、睡眠醫學、認知神經科學、意識科學、神經工程

腦是人體最美妙的器官,其精密及複雜程度遠超過其他器官及已知的任何複雜系統。人類大腦約由一千億或更多之神經元組成,經由這些神經元的協調工作造就了人類的意識與心智。比起形成生命個體的基因體,解開腦的奧秘之複雜及困難程度是有過之而無不及。因此,建立研究人腦功能的方法學以探討人腦宇宙,對於人類未來發展的重要性不言自諭,更是目前國際學術界的重點研究發展方向。當今國際在人腦科學的研究焦點與發展趨勢,是結合「功能性神經造影(Functional Neuroimaging)」包括超高磁場磁振造影(Ultra-high field Magnetic Resonance Imaging)、腦磁波儀 (Magnetoencephalography,MEG)、腦電波儀(Electroencephalography,EEG),正子斷層掃描儀(Positron Emission Tomography, PET)、單光子斷層掃描儀(Single Photon Emission Tomography, SPECT)、穿頭顱磁刺激(Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation,TMS)及光學造影(Optical Imaging)等先進儀器進行腦部非侵襲性的醫學與科學研究與介入治療。這些新的科技提供最新的方法學與技術平台如功能性磁振造影(functional MRI,fMRI)以探討巨觀腦神經網路及建構功能性神經解剖、磁振頻譜(Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, MRS)提供腦部生化資訊、擴散張力或擴散頻譜磁振造影(Diffusion Tensor Imaging or Diffusion Spectrum Imaging, DTI/DSI)提供腦部白質纖維的走向聯通與結構、正子斷層掃描量可度量局部腦血流(regional cerebral blood flow)、腦灌流(cerebral perfusion)及其他生化訊號、神經傳導素(Neurotransmitter)之變化等,以先進的資訊電腦技術,重建腦神經網路三度空間的功能結構、分子生化機理、及時序機轉,進行前所未有之人類之身心互動、人腦與心智複雜關係之研究與臨床應用。

本研究室的成立及使命即在台北榮總建置整合與研發現代人腦研究之神經造影及腦圖高科研技術,在這十年來密切與國內外醫學中心與研究機構進行學術合作,結合人腦科學、認知神經科學及神經精神醫學等跨領域專業知識、技術、與經驗,探討人腦心智與意識之奧祕,同時發展臨床醫學應用,希冀能成為臨床醫療診斷治療機轉研究的重要轉譯橋樑介面,並尋求與醫藥醫工產業密切合作,找出新治療方法的可能性。
