Nuclear Medicine Department   

The first Nuclear Medicine Center of our nation was set up in 1970 in our hospital and renamed as Nuclear Medicine Department in 1974.Scintigraphy helps clinicians obtain earlier diagnosis and earlier treatment. We built up a National PET/Cyclotron Center with the first PET and Cyclotron of our nation in 1992.

In 2006, we purchased a PET/CT scanner, which offers functional and anatomical information at the same time. PET/CT scan can offer excellent detection, localization and evaluation for cardiovascular, neural or cancerous diseases, and screening for early malignant diseases. In 2008, our Clinical Immunoassay Laboratory passed the CAP certification and provided accurate services for clinical testing of in-vitro blood samples to help disease diagnosis, screening, tracing and prognostic evaluation. In the same year, the country's first yttrium-90 treatment was started. In 2011, we purchased a single-photon computed tomography with CT and cardiac semiconductor imaging instrument. In the same year, the positron radiochemistry passed cGMP certification. The positron radiopharmaceutical F-18 BPA was clinically provided for the pre-treatment evaluation of the boron neutron capture therapy. In 2018, the Integrated PET/MR imaging center was established and GE SIGNA 3T PETMR was introduced; in the same year,

National Yang-Ming University installed a 7T micro PET/MRI at the Taipei Veterans General Hospital Department of Nuclear Medicine. In 2020, The international forum of advanced nuclear medicine and 50^th anniversary of nuclear medicine, TVGH was hold. Looking back over the past 50 years, TVGH has introduced and developed nationally pioneered instruments, exam and services since the first nuclear medicine department in Taiwan; making continuous progress and linking up the world.
