Background

Taipei Veterans General Hospital first established a mission working group for Labour Safety and Health Administration (LSHA) in 1991 based on the new policy to include the Labour Safety and Health Bill into the national medical and health services. The initiative coordinator was Deputy Superintendant Dr. Hsio-Hsion Chao. This working group was then officially established and named as Labour Safety and Health Office in May 1994, under the instruction of the Assistance Commission for Retired Servicemen, Executive Yuan. The Labour Safety and Health and Environmental Protection (LSHEP) Office was led by a director, and assisted by a labor safety management professional and a safety and health administrator. The mission of the office was to promote the relevant policy of safety and health. In the years 1997 and 1998, the Taipei Veterans General Hospital LSHEP Office was awarded by the City Government and the Executive Yuan as the outstanding institution. The Office was renamed as “Labour Safety and Health Office (LSHO)” on the 1st of November, 2013 and as “Occupational Safety and Health Office” since 2017.
