Clinical Elective Program for Foreign Medical Students
Introduction |
The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department includes three divisions: General Rehabilitation, Neurological Rehabilitation and Orthopedic Rehabilitation. We offer a comprehensive multi-disciplinary program of physical medicine, among which physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, psychosocial rehabilitation and occupational rehabilitation are all among the best of its kind in Taiwan. We have 10 seasoned attending physicians, two of them also professors and there are 34 beds available for inpatient care. For high-risk prematurities in PICU, we provide early intervention rehabilitation programs. For those who have undergone open-heart or heart transplantation surgeries, we perform cardiopulmonary rehabilitation services. In order to meet special needs we offer specialized care services including repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy (RtMS), intelligence rehabilitation, intravenous laser irradiation of blood (ILIB), and vestibular rehabilitation. Our department performed variety kind of special examiniations that include electromyography, musculoskeletal ultrasound, vestibular/balance assessment, intraoprative neuromuscular monitoring(IONM) to provide patient comprehensive rehabilitaion care. |

WEEK ONE 1. Participate in resident work rounds & attending teaching/management rounds. 2. Attend rehabilitation core-lectures and meetings. 3.Visit rehabilitation clinics WEEK TWO 1. Participate in resident work rounds & attending teaching/management rounds. 2. Attend rehabilitation core-lectures and meetings. 3. Visit united clinics of special sevices 4. Visit special examination room (EMG/NCS, ultrasonography, vestibular/balance assessment) WEEK THREE (selective) 1. Participate in resident work rounds & attending teaching/management rounds. 2. Participate in rehabiliation consultations with supervisors. 3. Visit rehabilitation clinics. 4. Attend rehabilitation core-lecture and meetings. 5. Visit special rehabilitation services with supervisor ( RTMS, ILIB, intelligent rehabilitation, vestibular rehabilitation). WEEK FOUR (selective) 1. Participate in resident work rounds & attending teaching/management rounds. 2. Participate in rehabilitation consultation with supervisors. 3. Visit the neurological clinics. 4. Attend rehabilitation core-lecture and meetings. 5. Visit special examination services with supervisor (vestibular/balance assessment, IONM ). |
