Professional summary:

Dr. Hong specializes in psychosomatic medicine and adult psychiatry. He teaches residents and interns how to interview psychiatric patients in clinical setting and supervises experimental researches of postgraduate students in Behavior and Gene Laboratory. In addition, he opens annual English courses for postgraduates of NYMU on the topics of psychiatric case discussion and the introduction to the treatment. He is interested in molecular pathophysiology of psychiatric disorders, including (1) finding pathogenic mutations  and providing genetic counseling for patients with early onset dementia. (2) using ENU-mutagenized mice to search genes relating to neuropsychiatric disorders. (3) using CRISPR technology and knockout mice to study the functions of genes relating neural degeneration and development.
