Promotion of clinical practice model of emergency medicine in Taiwan Preface: As an emerging medical specialty, emergency medicine embraces the ideal of providing better emergency medical services for the people of Taiwan. At the same time, it is also facing the inevitable challenges of emerging specialties, including the "not yet" understanding of emergency medicine by the public and other medical specialties, and the continuous self-exploration and refinement of emergency medicine for its own development. Many confusions in the development process come from the ambiguity of the core definition, professional content and ability essence of emergency medicine. The history of the development of emergency medicine in the United States, which is ahead of us, is telling our current story. Standing on the shoulders of giants, we can accelerate our own mastery of the core essence of emergency medicine. We will also be a rising giant, more determined to protect the health of the Taiwanese. Since 1975, the predecessors of ACEP and SAEM have been focusing on the core of emergency medicine and constantly updating the core content of emergency medicine. After more than 20 years of development, from the collection of expert opinions to the large-scale emergency practice survey and empirical data analysis of emergency medical treatment in the United States, Model of the Clinical Practice of Emergency Medicine was formulated. Finally, in 2001, the first edition of the Model of the Clinical Practice of Emergency Medicine, referred to as EM Model "emergency medicine model" was announced. It clearly defines the special nature and needs of emergency patients, and the specific care service goals of emergency: 1. Patient Acuity assessment、2. Physician task 3. Medical Knowledge, Patient Care and Procedural skills. Therefore, it can almost be said that the "emergency medicine model" is like the constitution of the "specialty" of emergency medicine, which already implies the core capabilities required for emergency medicine. It has also become the core document of the American emergency training and examination. The 2012 annual meeting was the first year we introduced the "Emergency Medicine Model". In 2013, the society established the first "Emergency Medicine Professional Ability Mileage Promotion Group". Several emergency physicians who are enthusiastic about medical education and concerned about the development of emergency care started to translate the American "Emergency Medicine Clinical Practice Model" The same group adjusted to the "Taiwan Emergency Medicine Clinical Practice Model" suitable for Taiwan's needs, and announced it on the website of the Emergency Medicine Association in 2014. Based on changes in social life patterns and disease patterns, coupled with advances in medical technology, the 3rd "Emergency Professional Ability Mileage Promotion Group".  The first review and revision of the first edition of the "Emergency Medicine Clinical Practice Model resulted in announcement in 2018 the second edition of the "Emergency Medicine Clinical Practice Model".  We look forward to continuously refining the core essence of emergency care and enhancing the value of emergency care.
