Procedures

Pre-operative:

Preoperative preparations include disease medication control, tooth examination, computed tomographic angiography scan, cardiovascular examinations, preoperative anesthesia visits, and deep breathing exerciser training.

Surgery:

# Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI)

More than 90% patients just received consciousness sedation. TAVI device will inserted from right femoral artery with In-Line sheath. Under rapid pacing, the device will smoothly be deployed just below aortic annulus. The arteriotomy will closed by closure device. The wound will be only 1cm puncture hole at bilateral inguinal area.

# Robotic assisted cardiac surgery

Robotic assisted cardiac surgery was mainly used for mitral valve disease. Under high resolution scope and dexterous arm, we can perform mitral valve repair easier and more accurately. Compared to conventional sternotomy, robotic cardiac surgery had much early recovery and cosmetic effect, with only a 3cm thoracotomy wound and four 1cm puncture hole.

Notification

Risks and complications with cardiac and aortic surgery include:

# Stroke, intracranial hemorrhage

# Pneumonia/sepsis/respiratory failure

# Cardiogenic shock, heart failure
