Since Taipei Veterans General Hospital was established in 1958, the division of general surgery in the department of surgery has served countless patients. During the past decades, we have made great progress in clinical services and surgical performance. Under the lead of current chief of our division, Professor Yi-Ming Shyr, we have made great efforts on clinical performance, academic research and medical educations, and processed great advancement in quality of care.

Currently, there are 13 attending surgeons in our division. Every attending surgeon has his/her specialty, including hepatic surgery, pancreaticobiliary surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, breast surgery, thyroid/endocrine surgery and minimally invasive laparoscopic or robotic surgery. We have six specialized operating rooms, laparoscopic devices, ultrasonography, biliary scope system and fluoroscopy.

Aside from surgical specializations, every attending surgeon and caregivers provide professional services with patience and medical ethics. Our division will continue to meet the demands of our traditions and to stand the worldwide leading position in clinical specialties, medical researches and educations.
