Introduction

The division of infectious disease in Taipei Veteran Hospital has been established since 1959. It is nationally and internationally known for its expertise in the clinical care and research of infectious disease. Our division provides several areas of expertise: clinical care, physician training programs and study.

The expertise of the faculty is complementary to our strong inpatient primary care, infectious diseases consultation and outpatient service. We provide primary care to approximately 1,600 persons and about 1,500 consultations per year.

Our fellowship program provides opportunities for premiere training in both clinical care and research. We also offer medical education for medical student from medical schools in Taiwan or abroad.

A vital activity of the Division of Infectious Diseases is clinical and laboratory research. Major research strengths of the Division are in antimicrobial resistance, HIV-AIDS, nosocomial and community-acquired infections. The Division amasses more than NTD 10 million funding per year, as one of the leading division in the department of medicine.
