Introduction

The Department of Hema-Oncology Institute was divided into Hematology and Oncology group. Generally our practice involved malignant solid tumors, hematological malignancies, and benign hematological disease. As a hospital performing the 1^st case of allo-HSCT in Taiwan, we had completed more than 1500 hematologic stem cell transplantation. There are 156 beds available, including a disinfection chamber(4 beds available). There are also 15 seasoned attending physicians, three of them professors. To demonstrate the core of hematology, we had multiple interactive light microscope to read peripheral blood or bone marrow smear. A radio-hema-pathology combine meeting is held biweekly to facilitate further treatment. As for oncology, we have multi-discipline care of various tumors, including head and neck cancer, colorectal cancer, sarcoma, breast cancer, and upper GI malignancies.

Objective

1. Learn and practice how to do bone marrow aspiration, smear, and recognize the finding of common hematological disease
2. Know the four emergencies of hematological disease：Acute promyelocytic leukemia with bleeding, tumor lysis syndrome, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, and spinal cord compression syndrome
3. Perform evidence-based practice
