Introduction


The Section of Teaching Affairs manages the affairs related with clinical practicum and elective training program for domestic and international students and medical employees, and the affairs related with the planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation of clerkship, internship and continuing medical education programs.  The scope of business includes UGY and PGY programs, the Instruction Fee Reimbursement Programs for Teaching Hospitals under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, signing for cooperation with other institutions, joint training programs, issue of training certificate, working under Medical Education Committee, managing for teaching hospital accreditation, election of “teachers of the year”, and production and design of medical posters.  The Section holds a pivotal position in communication between national policy makers of medical education and our hospital staff who put the policy into effect.  We also take the responsibilities to assist and guide the teaching performance of all the branches of Taipei Veterans General Hospital in Hsinchu, Taoyuan, Yuanshan and Su'ao.

 

Our tasks:

(1) Management of teaching affairs of training program for medical students or students from the variety of hospital-related disciplines, including rotating scheduling, credit account, and performance of evaluation.
(2) Management of elective or advanced training program as continuing education for medical staff in the hospital or coming from other medical institutes, including PGY programs (for first-year residents, junior nurses, pharmacists and other paramedical staff, etc...). 
(3) Issue of various forms of training certificate.
(4) Joint training program and mutual cooperation with local and overseas medical institutions.
(5) Preparatory work for attending national teaching hospital accreditation. 
(6) Under the supervision of the Medical Education Committee to implement educational policies and programs.
(7) Election of “teachers of the year.” 
(8) Production of medical fine art including designs of general graphics, posters, covers, tables and figures for medical journals and meetings.
